The moment all track and field fans have been waiting for has finally arrived. Next week, from August 5 to 9, the spotlight of world sport will shine on Eugene, Oregon (USA) for the most important youth event of the quadrennium: the World Athletics U20 Championships!
The finest young talents on the planet will compete for world titles at the sacred temple of American track and field, the iconic Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.
📍 A Return to Roots for “TrackTown USA”
This isn’t the first time Eugene has hosted the world youth championships: back in 2014, future stars of the track raced on this legendary oval. Hayward Field, recently renovated and host to the World Athletics Championships in 2022, is famous for its electric atmosphere and perfect conditions that drive athletes to push past their limits.
🌟 The Stars of Tomorrow Compete Today
The World U20 Championships are no ordinary youth tournament: they are the true launchpad toward Olympic glory. Champions of the caliber of Letsile Tebogo and numerous stars from the recent Paris Olympic Games passed right through this competition before climbing to the top of the world.
Hundreds of athletes are expected in Eugene to compete across 44 events including sprints, middle-distance races, hurdles, throws, jumps, and combined events.
